This is a woodcarving not a woodworking club. Potential new members have the option to attend two new member classes before membership is required. These classes cover basic carving skills, wood burning, painting and tool/equipment orientation. This provides an opportunity to see if they enjoy carving before joining the club. Most carving is accomplished using rotary tools, but some carvers use sharp tools such as knifes and gouges. Once the initial classes are completed, those wishing to become members must join the club. Dues are $25 per year.
After two months or two classes, whichever comes first, the member is required to purchase their own micromotor (like a Dremel tool) and bits. The club does not have knives or gouges for general usage. All other club equipment is available for use by club members. Use of bandsaws, lathe and router require that two people be in the room for safety.
Open studio time is available in the Quail Studio:
All day - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
Afternoon only - Thursday
